Chiropractic Therapies

We offer a wide range of conventional and contemporary chiropractic therapies, giving us flexibility to meet diverse needs.  Alternatives exist for patients unable to tolerate certain therapies, and therapies can be used in combination to yield superior results.

Manipulation (Adjustment)
Application: Effective for relieving pain and residual effects associated with
injuries and degenerative changes in the joints and vertebra
Description: Gentle and specific alignment of the joints of the body,
particularly the vertebrae. In this highly controlled procedure, the chiropractor generally applies a high-velocity, low-amplitude, short-lever arm thrust to the affected vertebra or other joint, restoring function and range of motion and removing pain-causing nerve interference.

Soft-Tissue Therapy
Application: Relief of anatomical dysfunction involving all body tissues,
including the muscles, tendons, and ligaments
Description: The hand massage of collateral soft tissue surrounding bones
and joints. A variety of techniques (e.g., cross-friction, myofascial,
acupressure, trigger point) are available for use as separate therapies or as
adjuncts to chiropractic manipulation to avoid micro-tearing of tissue.

Egoscue Method
Application: Highly effective for eliminating chronic pain,
correcting postural misalignment, and enhancing overall body function and performance
Description: Simple, highly targeted E-cises designed to
restore proper motion to specific joints (eg., back, hips, knees, ankles, elbows).  E-cises can be performed at home with little or no equipment, following one-on-one instruction and practice with the chiropractor.  Egoscue products (books and equipment) for home use are available for purchase at the clinic.

Ultrasound (Infrared Heat Application)
Application: Beneficial for injuries stemming from falls,
motor vehicle accidents, and sports
Description: Use of sound waves to deliver deep-heat
micro-massage to an area of localized pain. Treatment
improves blood flow, reduces muscle spasms, and
increases range of motion.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation
Application: Relieves acute and chronic pain and associated edema and
inflammation; helps diffuse metabolic toxins; increases circulation; stimulates healing
Description: Delivers electrical current in therapeutic frequencies to tissues
through strategically placed electrodes, resulting in deep skeletal stimulation.  Treatment can be delivered in the clinic offices or at home by the patient.  Home units are available for purchase at the clinic.

Hot and Cold Therapy
Application: Reduces inflammation, relieves chronic pain, and improves
circulation
Description: Application of hot and cold compresses, either separately or in
alternating sequence; application of moist heat

Flexion/Distraction
Application: Useful for relief of back and leg pain associated with disc
herniation and stenosis; restores natural spinal motion and joint function
Description: Use of an adjustable ergonomic table to gently distract or stretch
the spine, allowing the chiropractor to isolate the area of disc involvement while
slightly flexing the spine in a pumping rhythm. Relieves pressure on the
intervertebral disc and eases irritation of spinal nerves.

Exercise Therapy

Application: Useful for pain reduction, stress reduction, prevention of muscle
deterioration, improved joint health, protection against new or recurring injuries,
and general improvement of strength, stability and range of motion
Description: Patient-specific stretching and strength training programs for use
at home and gym.  Yoga classes are available at the clinic for patient convenience.
