What is Naturopathic Medicine?

The guiding premise of naturopathic care is that the human body has an innate intelligence that seeks balance. When illness occurs, the body works to restore health. A stressful lifestyle, poor eating habits, a toxic environment and even some medications can inhibit the body’s natural healing processes.

Treating the Whole Person
Naturopathic doctors are primary care physicians, who are trained in nutrition and complementary and alternative medicines, in addition to having medical training similar to conventional doctors.

Operating on the principal that the body may need only minimal help or a very specific type of support to heal itself, naturopathic doctors treat the whole person with the least invasive techniques. In an initial 90-minute visit, a naturopathic doctor will obtain a patient’s complete medical history, as well as information regarding their emotional, environmental, mental and spiritual state of being.

A naturopathic doctor seeks to address the underlying cause of illness or discomfort, rather than to treat symptoms. In general, symptoms are not suppressed since this interferes with the body’s attempt at healing. Nutrition and diet are often addressed as a means to restore health.

A Community Health Partner
Referrals to other doctors or medical specialists are made when the care needed is outside the scope of a naturopathic doctor’s training.

Under the leadership of Dr. Margaret Beeson, the Yellowstone Naturopathic Clinic has established collaborate partnerships with doctors and specialists within the Billings medical community and beyond. See a full listing of our partnerships here. Situated in Billings’ medical corridor, the clinic has easy access to both hospitals and nearby laboratory and x-ray facilities.

Why Naturopathic Care Makes Sense
Skyrocketing health care costs means patients must take responsibility for their own health, not just to manage existing illnesses, but prevent disease from the start. Naturopathic care helps people do just that.

Call today to schedule you initial exam and get started on your healing journey, naturally.
